About Mr Fahid Rasul

Mr Fahid Rasul is a Consultant Neurosurgeon and Specialist Spinal Surgeon with an international reputation for excellence in the diagnosis and treatment of complex brain and spine disorders.

Mr Rasul currently serves as the Clinical Lead for Spinal Surgery and the Education Lead for Neurosurgery at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. In his private practice, he provides specialist care at several leading hospitals across Birmingham, Solihull, Worcester, Coventry and Northampton.

He is a pioneer of minimally invasive spinal surgery, having introduced innovative surgical techniques and technologies to his NHS practice to improve patient outcomes. His approach is rooted in a multidisciplinary framework, ensuring that all patients are offered a comprehensive range of treatment options, including both non-operative and surgical interventions.

Education and Training

(MBBS) and a BSc (Hons) in Neuroscience

Mr Rasul’s academic journey is marked by distinction. He obtained his medical degree (MBBS) and a BSc (Hons) in Neuroscience from University College London.

MSc in Clinical Neuroscience

He furthered his expertise with an MSc in Clinical Neuroscience from UCL.

MPhil (Cantab)

Master of Philosophy (MPhil) from the University of Cambridge, where he was the top-ranked candidate and received funding from the Medical Research Council.

Neurosurgical and Orthopaedic Training

Following his neurosurgical residency in London, he completed two internationally renowned complex spine fellowships at The Royal London Hospital and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. This dual neurosurgical and orthopaedic training allows him to offer a uniquely comprehensive perspective on spinal care.



Research and Innovation

A dedicated academic, Mr Rasul has published extensively in internationally acclaimed journals. He remains at the forefront of the field, currently researching areas of innovation such as the application of AI in spinal surgery. In 2020, he was one of only two UK neurosurgeons to be awarded the British Association of Spine Surgeons (BASS) Travelling Fellowship.


